OSU Student Farm
Planting seeds of service
And providing easy access to healthier foods for low-income individuals and families
The OSU Student Farm is a project to rebuild the land with a mission to feed the community
in a sustainable way and provide access to produce including broccoli, spinach, lettuce,
onions and more. The Student Farm also utilizes buried irrigation to prevent water
waste.
Future plans for the farm include expanding to a second field of vegetables, renovating
the old swine barns, building a washstand to clean the vegetables on site and remodeling
the old house for an office.
Where learning meets the land
Helping students become the future of the agriculture industry
At OSU, a multitude of degree programs, courses and volunteer opportunities directly
align with the work of the Student Farm. These hands-on learning experiences provide
students with the opportunity to learn practical experience outside of the classroom
and connect with faculty experts, peers, and community members. Through teaching,
research and Extension, students are prepared for real-world success. To learn more
about how to get involved, please contact us.

Growing collaboratively
In partnership with Our Daily Bread Food and Resource Center
Our Daily Bread's mission is to feed our community collaboratively and provide connections that enable lasting
change.
The Ferguson College of Agriculture's Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture has been a partner of Our Daily Bread Food and Resource Center since its opening
in 2017. Initially focused on supporting the efforts of their onsite community garden, the
relationship has grown to incorporate the OSU Student Farm. The farm was originally
a dream to give students more hands-on experience in agricultural production. Our
Daily Bread’s need for more local, fresh produce came to the forefront with increased
numbers of households in Payne County visiting ODB for groceries through the worst
of the pandemic and beyond. Combining that practical learning experience at the farm
with filling a need at Our Daily Bread makes for an ideal partnership.
