Award terms & conditions
Disbursement of scholarships and financial aid:
- Tuition Scholarships: These awards are reflected as credits for tuition charges and/or out-of-state tuition. Up to one-half of your total award will be credited each semester. They do not pay for fees and are not cash awards. When you accept the award, you are agreeing to the award terms. This includes information in the award message viewable by clicking on the award name when you review the award and any information linked within the award message.
- Other Scholarships: Please refer to the information provided to you by the awarding department, office or agency for disbursement information.
- Title IV Federal and State Aid:
- General Information: With the exception of Federal Work-Study, which is distributed by payroll direct deposit/check, OSU financial aid is disbursed to your OSU Bursar account (one-half of the total in the fall semester and one-half in the spring). If you don't enroll for the fall semester, your award will be canceled for the entire year, unless you specifically request that your aid for the spring be retained. We will notify you if we are unable to honor your request.
- Grants: If you receive a Federal Pell Grant, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), OSU Opportunity Grant, Oklahoma Promise, TEACH Grant or Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG), your OSU Bursar account will be credited.
- Loans: If you borrow in the Ford Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized/Graduate PLUS or Health Professions programs, funds will be credited to your OSU Bursar account once you have signed the promissory note and, if applicable, completed the entrance counseling. Borrowers in the Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan programs electronically sign a Master Promissory Note which allows students to add subsequent-year loans to the initial promissory note. Health Professions Loan borrowers sign a different electronic promissory note. A Federal Direct Parent (PLUS) Loan is credited to the student's account once the parent borrower has completed the PLUS Application and, if needed, a PLUS Master Promissory Note and the credit check has been completed by the federal government's loan servicer.
- Refund of Credit Balance: Unless you specify otherwise, Title IV funds pay for only current semester direct institutional charges, such as tuition, fees, room and board. This means you could receive a refund and still owe the bursar for indirect charges, such as bookstore purchases, athletic tickets, etc. You should answer the Title IV Fund Payment Authorization questions, which are included in the Resources/Additional Info tab of the financial aid information at my.okstate.edu to indicate whether you want federal Title IV funds applied to all charges or restricted to specific direct charges. If there is a credit balance once all charges are paid, you will receive a refund from the Bursar's Office. Questions regarding these options should be addressed to the OSU Bursar's Office, 113 Student Union.
