Inside OSU with Burns Hargis marks 100th episode

Long-time Oklahoma City television anchor Kevin Ogle joined OSU President Burns Hargis for the 100th episode of Inside OSU with Burns Hargis. The special edition provided a look back at the program’s nine years. Hargis has hosted the online video program to spotlight the wide array of programs and activities taking place at OSU. “One of my greatest joys is learning about the high-quality programs and talented people we have at OSU,” said Hargis. The first segment was released in September 2008.
NASA awards OSU College of Education and its partners $25 million grant

The Oklahoma State University College of Education and various partners received a $25 million, five-year grant from NASA to fund a variety of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities for under-represented students in grades kindergarten through 12, as well as higher education, across the country. The grant to OSU is the latest in a 50-year continuous collaboration with NASA Education Projects.
OSU Facilities Management receives national award for innovation and effectiveness

OSU’s Department of Facilities Management earned the Association of Physical Plant Administrators’ 2017 Effective and Innovative Practices Award for its Next Level Project: A Model for Effective Change. The award recognizes new programs or significant restructuring to existing programs that enhance service delivery, lower costs, increase productivity, improve customer service, generate revenue, or otherwise benefit the educational institution. OSU began the Next Level Project in 2015.
OSU joins elite group as national 'Diversity Champion'

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine named OSU one of 11 Diversity Champions, which honors unyielding commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout campus communities, across academic programs, and at the highest administrative levels. The magazine’s publisher called OSU “a visionary leader” that “exceeds everyday expectations.” As a Diversity Champion, OSU is in the top tier of this year’s Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award recipients, an award it has won six consecutive years.
Alumni Michael and Anne Greenwood provide generous gift for new music education building

Alumni Michael and Anne Greenwood have made a significant gift to name the new home for music education programs at OSU. The building will be named the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music. The Greenwoods were recognized during a Friends of Music benefit event at the OSU Botanic Garden. The gift will allow construction to start immediately on the new facility, which will be connected to The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts. Both are expected to debut in the fall of 2019.
OSU Center for Health Sciences unveils Oklahoma’s largest simulation teaching center

OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa launched a new era of advanced medical education with the grand opening of the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Medical Academic Building, a state-of-the-art teaching simulation center for OSU medical students. “This academic building is a one-of-kind in this region and the largest medical simulation program in the state. We have only just begun to explore the teaching potential of this new technology,” said OSU President Burns Hargis.
Burns Hargis inducted into OSU Diversity Hall of Fame for his leadership, support

The OSU Diversity Hall of Fame recognized seven honorees and two Rising Stars at a sold-out event during Homecoming week. OSU President Burns Hargis was among the honorees inducted. His support of OSU’s diversity programs and efforts has been vital to the progress and national recognition the university now enjoys. The Diversity Hall of Fame recognizes alumni and university supporters for their achievements and efforts to advance diversity and inclusion at OSU.
McKnight Center for the Performing Arts marks topping-out with ceremony

Billie and Ross McKnight joined Burns and Ann Hargis and others for the topping-out ceremony for the transformative McKnight Center for the Performing Arts at Oklahoma State University prior to OSU’s Bedlam football game. Standing on the unfinished stage of the 93,000-square-foot facility, attendees celebrated the next step in the life of the center, which stands prominently along the southwest corner of University Avenue and Hester Street. The McKnight Center is expected to open in 2019.
Oklahoma State wins national community engagement honor

The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities announced at its annual meeting in Washington, D.C., that Oklahoma State University is the winner of its national community outreach award for 2017. “This is a wonderful honor and exciting national recognition of Oklahoma State’s health initiative with the Chickasaw Nation,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “It’s a humbling acknowledgment of our founding commitment to serve and engage in our communities.”
OSU dedicates memorial to ‘Remember the 4’

Family, friends and members of the Oklahoma State University community came together to dedicate a permanent memorial to honor the lives of former Cowgirl basketball coach Kurt Budke, assistant coach Miranda Serna and OSU supporters Olin and Paula Branstetter. The four died in a plane crash in northern Arkansas on Nov. 17, 2011, while on a recruiting trip.
