Hargis interviews Condoleezza Rice

OSU released an "Inside OSU with Burns Hargis" interview with former U.S. Secretary of State and national security advisor Condoleezza Rice. She spoke in Stillwater, Oklahoma City and Tulsa as part of Oklahoma State's executive speaker series, which features international, business and political leaders, authors and policymakers who bring critical and timely information to Oklahoma.
OSU signs student exchange agreement with Chinese university

Oklahoma State University and Southwest Jiaotong University in China announced an agreement in which students from the Chinese campus can complete their bachelor degrees at OSU. Southwest Jiaotong was the first Chinese university to send reciprocal exchange students to Stillwater and to receive an American student from OSU for study on its campus. The president of Southwest Jiaotong visited OSU President Burns Hargis and signed the agreement during a trip to the OSU campus.
$100 million from Pickens helps launch $1 billion Branding Success campaign

Before an orange-clad crowd in the packed atrium of the Student Union, OSU President Burns Hargis unveiled the five-year, $1 billion “Branding Success: The Campaign for Oklahoma State University” to fund scholarships, faculty positions, research, programs and facilities. “This campaign marks the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the history” of OSU, said Hargis. The campaign is chaired by Ross and Billie McKnight. OSU announced it had raised more than $437 million during the “quiet phase” of the campaign, which started at Hargis’ appointment in December 2007. At the event, Boone Pickens announced a surprise $100 million challenge gift to push the total raised past $537 million.
Oklahoma State captures unprecedented four Udall awards

A remarkable four Morris K. Udall Foundation Scholarships were awarded to OSU students. Only 80 students were selected nationally. The winners were Jeremy Bennett, Alesia Hallmark, Brooke Hill and Lauren White. “You are models for the rest of our students,” OSU President Burns Hargis told the students at a surprise announcement ceremony. “Student success is what OSU is about and we will point to you when we are out recruiting top students. Your legacy will live on for a long, long time.”
Donald W. Reynolds architecture building dedicated

A bust of Donald W. Reynolds was unveiled during a dedication ceremony for the Donald W. Reynolds School of Architecture Building at Oklahoma State University. Alumni and students joined the dedication for the renovated and expanded facility, made possible by a $16.3 million gift from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The dedication was part of the OSU School of Architecture’s 100th anniversary celebration.
OSU announces record enrollment; freshman class largest in nearly 30 years, has record ACT

Oklahoma State University hit several enrollment milestones and welcomed a freshman class that is the largest since 1981 and one of the strongest ever academically as the Fall 2010 semester began on the Stillwater campus. OSU set a record for systemwide enrollment (35,073) and graduate student enrollment (4,981). Freshman class enrollment was 3,554, up 13 percent from the previous year, and the average ACT for the class was a record high of 25.2.
Donald and Cathey Humphreys donate $6 million to expand OSU's study abroad program

OSU President Burns Hargis announced that distinguished OSU alumnus Donald Humphreys and his wife, Cathey, donated $6 million to support the university's study abroad program within the School of International Studies. “Today’s students must understand what drives global business success,” Hargis said. “So, today, thanks to a visionary gift from Don and Cathey Humphreys, more Oklahoma State faculty members and students than ever will be spanning the globe in the semesters ahead.”
OSU listed among top schools by job recruiters

The Wall Street Journal named Oklahoma State University among only 45 schools in the nation whose graduates rank highest with recruiters. OSU is the only school in Oklahoma to receive this recognition. The list was compiled by surveying 479 recruiters in various industries and rated schools on best trained and educated graduates and best to succeed once hired.
Pickens enhances scholarship gift-matching program

Due to incredible response, Boone Pickens extended and enhanced his $100 million testamentary challenge gift to further accelerate OSU’s ambitious $1 billion Branding Success fundraising campaign. “Boone Pickens’ loyalty to OSU academics and athletics has manifested itself in several transformational contributions to our university,” said Burns Hargis, OSU president. “We are deeply grateful for the support of Boone and thousands of Oklahoma State graduates and friends who have also stepped up to support our Branding Success campaign.”
Ross and Billie McKnight commit $15 million for student leadership scholarships

OSU alumni Ross and Billie McKnight committed $15 million to the university’s $1 billion Branding Success campaign to establish an endowment that focuses on recruiting and retaining student leaders from rural communities. The gift pushes the Branding Success campaign past $650 million. “This is a generous commitment from two of our beloved alumni who have a special passion to assist aspiring young men and women who have rural community backgrounds,” OSU President Burns Hargis said.
