The Most Asked Junior Day Questions... Answered!
- How will COVID-19 affect Fall 2021 students?
We don’t anticipate the admission and scholarship requirements to change for Fall 2021. Currently there are test options for SAT and ACT starting in August and continuing throughout your senior year. You can test throughout the year and send us updated test scores!
However, as a land grant university, OSU is consistently reviewing policies and practices ensuring students who want to attend OSU have every opportunity to be in Stillwater. Should anything change or be updated, we will communicate it clearly and in a timely manner.
- Will OSU be test-optional for admissions and scholarships?
OSU has an assured admission policy that helps students put their best academic foot forward--there are different benchmarks you can meet to be admitted, two of which lessen the importance of test scores. They are: (1) being in the top third of your class with at least a 3.0 GPA and (2) the Comprehensive Review process where a committee reviews you as a whole student, not just your grades and test scores. So complete your entire admissions application to put yourself in the best position for admission and scholarships at Oklahoma State.
- I haven’t been able to take the ACT or SAT yet because my test date was cancelled
due to COVID-19. Can I still apply?
Should in-person testing not be possible, both ACT and SAT have announced anticipated at-home testing starting in the Fall. Go ahead and fill out your OSU application and submit all the materials that you have in July. Then, when you do take the test, have your score sent to OSU automatically!
- I’ve taken the ACT or SAT already but I don’t like my score. Should I apply in July
or wait?
Go ahead and apply in July 2020! OSU has both comprehensive review and assured admissions processes. We also accept updated test scores until July 1, 2021, right before your freshman year as a Cowboy, and will only consider the highest composite score you have on file.
- Does OSU superscore?
We will always consider the highest composite test score on file! We do note currently accept superscores, but we are exploring the use of superscores in the future and will update our website if/when that change is made.
- Do students from a bordering state receive in-state tuition at OSU?
All out-of-state students can be considered for the Out-of-State Achievement Scholarship. It is based off of a 24 ACT or 1160 SAT and an unweighted 3.0 high school GPA. Students receive this all four years while at OSU. The Out-of-State Achievement Scholarship is a great way to reduce the cost of attending OSU from another state and can be combined with merit based scholarships and other financial aid.
- Will the residential halls be open? What is being done to keep students safe and healthy?
Based on the information we have to date, we expect the residence halls to be open. The safety and wellbeing of our students is a priority and will adhere to safety protocols put in place.
- How do I apply for concurrent enrollment at OSU?
You can apply for concurrent enrollment at OSU online, including our new Cowboy Concurrent Online courses that are created specifically for high school students, regardless of where you live. If you have other concurrent credits, you can see how they will transfer to OSU.
