The planning process
Timeline
Since the launch of the strategy development process in October 2021, on-campus content development moved forward in concert with robust off-campus constituency involvement and input.
During the development process, we actively listened to students, faculty and staff on the Stillwater campus, as well as at partner campuses and across the Cowboy family — including alumni, extension, donors and friends.
The timeline depicts a broad view of the steps in the strategy process.
Input and interaction with stakeholders
5 key questions
As part of this process, we held deep, guided discussions with partners across the state and region about what mattered most to them.
We explored five key questions presented to our user groups, analyzed participant percentages and identified common themes drawn from the various responses.
Stakeholder input: questions and responses

Steering Committee
The steering committee members led a system-wide process of listening. From January to May 2022, committee members formed working groups in key areas to take a deep dive into specific topics and gather data.
Working Groups
Drawn from a diverse cross-section of experts across the OSU System, more than fifty Working Group members reviewed data on the higher education landscape, assessed input from various stakeholder groups, evaluated the University’s current strengths and areas of opportunity, and developed findings based on their collective analysis.
The Working Groups formulated the imperatives that shaped the University’s strategy and positioned OSU to honor its land-grant mission and expand its societal impact in the years ahead.
