What is event management?

Event management is a fast-paced and exciting industry that involves designing, planning, organizing and coordinating events ranging from small to mega events, such as concerts, festivals, sporting events, trade shows, meetings, conferences, conventions and exhibitions. Successful event managers have a broad range of skills including communication, contract negotiation, organizations, customer service, human resources, budgeting, creativity, relationship management and leadership.

This option provides students with the essential skills, competencies and industry knowledge that will put them at the forefront of this fast-growing and rapidly changing industry.  The curriculum focuses on topics such as event and meeting planning, marketing, sponsorships, budgeting, sales, service and hospitality management.

Career opportunities are available across multiple sectors including music, festivals, sport, fashion, attractions and entertainment as well as within corporations or government. Potential jobs include:
