What is Beverage Management?

The global beverage industry has an annual worth of over $1 trillion and is rapidly growing every year. From wine, beer and spirits to coffee and tea, the opportunity to make a career out of marketing, selling, managing and discussing the wide variety of drinks of the world is greater than ever before. From beverage management to sales, distribution and beyond, the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management prepares students for a career in the lucrative, exciting and ever-changing beverage industry.

Why study Beverage Management at OSU?

The Beverage Management option allows students to attain a solid education by participating in educational and engaging programs through the newly developed, state-of-the-art Wayne Hirst Center for Beverage Education. The Beverage Management option gives students the unique opportunity to learn about the dynamic world of beverages while gaining a world-class education in the fundamentals of business. Beverage Management students at OSU have opportunities to learn from and network with beverage industry leaders from Oklahoma, around the country and across the world.

There are numerous career paths in beverage management. Potential jobs include:

  • Beverage sales manager
  • Beverage director
  • Restaurant and bar management
  • Winery/brewery representative
  • Sommelier
  • Producer (winemaker, brewer, distiller, etc.)
