Student and teacher in the classroom

What is elementary education?

Stimulate life-long learning and enrich the quality of life for students by teaching grades 1-8, including the subjects of mathematics, science, reading/language arts and social studies.

Why elementary education at OSU?

We integrate classroom curriculum with field experiences in schools that help you facilitate positive educational outcomes for your students. Upon degree completion, graduates are recommended to the Oklahoma State Department of Education for full teacher certification and are prepared to take certification exams in other states, if applicable. The high-quality reputation of our program makes graduates highly sought after for teaching positions in Oklahoma and beyond.

Student Perspective

OSU Elementary Education Student

“One of my favorite classroom experiences was when I had the opportunity to actually tutor a child in reading as part of my Literacy Assessment course. I got to make lesson plans, assess his needs and watch his growth through the semester!”
