Common Application

Oklahoma State University is excited to join the Common Application beginning Aug. 1, 2023. The Common Application conveniently allows you to apply to more than one institution using the same standardized admission application. 

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can apply?

    All incoming first-time freshman students applying for undergraduate admission to OSU. This includes first-time freshman international students. 

  • When can I apply?

    The application will be available on Aug. 1, 2023 for incoming first-time freshmen to apply to OSU for spring, summer or fall 2024 terms.

  • What are the deadlines?
  • Can application fee waivers be used?

    Yes, if you qualify for a waiver through ACT, SAT, and NACAC, you can upload your waiver to your application. Learn more about OSU's application fee waiver process


    Note: If you are an international student, you are not eligible for an application fee waiver. The international student application fee is $90 and nonrefundable. It must be paid before your application can be processed. You may pay online with a VISA or Mastercard.

  • Are the essay prompts different? 

    No, the essay prompts are the same on the Common Application and the OSU application. By submitting one essay response as well as your leadership and involvement resume, you'll receive maximum scholarship consideration. Learn more about OSU's application essay

  • Will I still be eligible for scholarships?

    Yes, the Common App serves as your admission and scholarship application. However, we highly recommend you provide your essay response and leadership and involvement resume to receive maximum scholarship consideration.


    Your leadership and involvement resume must be submitted separately via the OSU application portal  after submitting your Common App. We'll email you instructions to create your log-in credentials and complete this important step within two days of receiving your application.


    The essay response can be submitted with your Common App.

  • How can I check the status of my application? 

    We'll email you instructions to create your log-in credentials within two days of receiving your application, which you'll use to log in to the OSU application portal. This is where you can check the status of your application, verify any missing materials (including the leadership and involvement resume for maximum scholarship consideration) and take important next steps.
