"My time as a graphic design major has taught me to be more confident in
myself, in my abilities, and persevering in the face of obstacles. Everybody struggles
with something. I wish more than anything that I could tell my former self, ‘Breathe.
It’s going to be ok.’ But as weird as it is, I’m thankful for the challenges I faced,
and I think I’m the person I am today because of them.”
- Jordan Richards Flower Mound, Texas
Gardiner Gallery of Art exhibits student and faculty work as well as international
and national artists.
OSU Museum of Art is a teaching museum in which educators can teach from the art collection
and you can receive a first-hand look at real pieces of art related to their study,
not just pictures of the art. It’s also a place where students are an integral part
of the museum life by serving in many capacities.
The Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History emphasizes the importance of
students discovering new art and culture, and has offered several options for students
to study abroad with their faculty members for college credit. Recent trips include
class offerings to Italy, The Netherlands, France, Peru, and Germany. The Doel Reed
Center for the Arts in Taos, New Mexico, extends OSU's reach by offering programs
characterized by synergistic, multidisciplinary approaches to teaching, research and
outreach focusing on the Southwest.
