The College of Education and Human Sciences is excited to help you on your path to
a career in nursing. Our two-year curriculum guides you through the fundamental courses
on a successful educational journey towards a BSN. Our desire is to provide you with
the highest quality of knowledge and groundwork to best prepare you to apply for a
bachelor’s degree in nursing program.
There are multiple pathways to a career in nursing. The Pre-Nursing Certificate path
provided at Oklahoma State University is one in which you complete two years of prerequisite
science and general education courses at OSU before applying to a Bachelor of Science
in Nursing (BSN) program. Students should verify the prerequisite requirements for
BSN programs of interest to determine if additional courses are needed to supplement
the certificate.
Coursework (62 total hours)
This certificate includes introductory courses in general studies as well as many
field-specific courses in subject areas of biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology,
psychology and sociology that are required for admission to most nursing schools.
A pre-nursing certificate prepares students for continued education in a nursing program
as well as a variety of other bachelor's degrees in healthcare related fields.
