Get certified as an elementary mathematics specialist
This program is designed for those who already hold initial teacher certification
and desire to complete requirements for the elementary mathematics specialist add-on
certification through the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
Sharpen your skills in teaching topics ranging from algebra to spatial visualization and
probability. Successful completion of this certificate program requires 18 credit hours (six courses)
of graduate-level coursework. While some may already hold a master's degree, certificate credit hours are transferable to the following master's program:
This program is offered fully online as well as in-person on the OSU-Stillwater campus.
Online courses are delivered through Canvas, OSU's online learning platform. We facilitate peer-to-peer collaboration and community
building using technology. Each of these courses are tied directly to the Oklahoma State Department of Education
Elementary Mathematics Specialist standards.

SMED 5933: Teaching Data and Probability in Schools
SMED 5943: Mathematics Leadership and Coaching (includes a minimum of 30 hours of
field experience)
Transcripts from all previously attended institutions (undergraduate degree from an
accredited university with a minimum 3.0 GPA required; admission with qualifications
may be considered)
