Get certified in digital design

With a growing demand for designers who can effectively use 3D, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI), the Digital Design graduate certificate prepares you to use emerging technologies in industry jobs and for career advancement. Engage in challenging and creative projects with expert faculty as you strengthen your skills in VR and AR applications in design, creative process using AI and Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Overview

The Digital Design certificate is led by nationally recognized faculty and students have access to fully equipped design studios and computer labs with VR and AR technology and AI software. The program is ideal for for working professionals who want to strengthen their skills in Digital Design. It is also available to undergraduate students in their junior or senior year. 

Successful completion of the certificate program requires 12 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in the Design and Merchandising department. Credit hours may be transferable to other related graduate degree programs, including the master’s degree in Digital Design.

Coursework

The graduate certificate program includes four core courses.

 

 Required Core Courses (12 credit hours):

  • DM 5113: Theories of Creative Process
  • DM 5073: Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications in DM
  • DM 5173 Advanced Digital Design
  • DM 5373 Topic in Building Information Modeling

 

Admissions Requirements and Deadlines

Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree or be in their junior or senior year working toward a bachelor’s degree.

 

Applications are reviewed for fall semester admission. Students must be admitted to the OSU Graduate College.

 

To apply for the program, submit the following: 

  • Graduate College application
  • Transcripts from all previously attended institutions (undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a minimum 3.0 GPA required; admission with qualifications may be considered)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Professional goals statement
  • Resume
  • When English is a second language, scores from within the last two years for either the TOEFL exam (minimum score of 79 for admission) or the IELTS (academic stream) exam (minimum score of 6.5)
