She leads with Cowboy courage.

Meet Dr. Kayse Shrum.

Her day job runs circles around the toughest Oklahomans you’ll meet: president of OSU’s Center for Health Sciences and dean of the college of osteopathic medicine. Just over a year ago when asked to serve as the state’s secretary of science and innovation, she gladly answered the call.

Today this former college softball star and mother of six finds herself stepping down from playing a lead role in helping to manage the state’s response to the toughest crisis this generation has ever known. If anyone was up for the challenge, it was Dr. Shrum. We were proud to see her white lab coat during weekly press briefings, knowing her heart bleeds orange through and through.

That’s how we build Cowboys.
