Building Opportunity in Tulsa
Orange is the Answer
Oklahoma State University’s vision for Tulsa is bold, expansive and innovative. We’re
hard at work developing a world-class workforce for tomorrow’s industries and educating
the next generation of health care professionals. Our groundbreaking research addresses
society’s most pressing needs, while our mission of service gives us purpose. We are
impacting lives every day, in every corner of our community.
Two medical school campuses
Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences is a nationally recognized academic
health center focused on teaching, research and patient care. We are educating and
training osteopathic physicians, scientists, and health professionals with a mission
dedicated to serving rural and underserved areas of Oklahoma. OSU-CHS offers graduate
and professional degrees through the College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Allied
Health, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Forensic Sciences, School of Health
Care Administration and Physician Assistant Program.
In 2020, we partnered with the Cherokee Nation to open the nation’s first tribally
affiliated medical school in Tahlequah, the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at
the Cherokee Nation.
An urban academic campus
As a metropolitan, urban-serving research university located in Tulsa's Greenwood
District, OSU-Tulsa offers Oklahoma State University’s world-class programs in a downtown
setting. OSU-Tulsa students graduate with the same OSU degree that students in Stillwater
receive.
OSU-Tulsa’s location adds to the value of that degree by giving our students access
to the internship and volunteer opportunities, cultural attractions and social scene
that come with an urban campus.
Students generally transfer to OSU-Tulsa with an associate's degree or at least 45
credit hours from another institution. Since many of OSU-Tulsa's students are working
adults, we offer class schedules, course formats and amenities to support their success.
26 clinics
OSU Medicine operates a network of 26 clinics in the Tulsa metropolitan area offering
a variety of specialty services including addiction medicine, biomedical imaging,
cardiology, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry and women’s
health. Our patient-focused approach is highly personal and tailored for each individual’s
needs.
Multiple research centers
Through research, our Tulsa campuses are finding solutions to society’s most pressing
needs. Research centers focus on a variety of needs, including combating health disparities,
improving the lives of families, creating materials to support new industries and
fighting opioid addiction.
A downtown academic health care campus
Through collaboration with our partners, OSU Medicine is bringing a plan for a downtown
academic health care campus anchored by the Veteran’s Hospital in Tulsa and OSU Medical
Center, our teaching hospital. To meet the escalating demand for mental health services
for our community, our district also includes a facility dedicated to psychiatric
in-patient care. This is an especially important element of the plan to provide the
mental health support so many of our veterans require.
