Orange is the Answer.

At Oklahoma State University, we are dedicated to excellence in the education of all forms of art. We equip creators for their future careers through immersive learning opportunities including contemporary art exhibitions, world-class theater performances, engaging student showcases and national music partnerships.
The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts at OSU and the New York Philharmonic recently announced a three-year residency partnership that will bring the renowned orchestra to Stillwater annually. The partnership provides valuable educational opportunities for the OSU Greenwood School of Music as well as Stillwater Public schools students, including a youth education concert and masterclasses to interact with some of the world’s greatest musicians.

Where can the state find innovative exhibitions that challenge the definition of art?

Orange is the Answer. At OSU, we are passionate about providing thought-provoking, engaging learning experiences for our students and communities. In the OSU Museum of Art’s latest exhibition, "BLOW UP II: Inflatable Contemporary Art", artists use air as an active tool to subvert their perspective and surprise audiences. BLOW UP II is intended to be a fun show that appeals to youth and young adults, as well as a chance for visitors to discover just how diverse art can be.

Who inspires the state with student-led productions?

Orange is the Answer. At OSU, we equip students for their future careers by providing them with the autonomy to lead and produce high-level performances and events. The Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising annually hosts Euphoria, a high-energy runway fashion show featuring garments designed and created by students majoring in fashion design and production. Open to the public, tickets to the event support department scholarships while students gain valuable hands-on experience in planning and executing all aspects of the event.

Who prepares students to meet the ever-changing landscape of the workforce in the performing arts?

Orange is the Answer. Over the past decade, the Cowboy family has intentionally woven visual and performing arts into the fabric of OSU's identity. OSU's music environment was recently elevated with the grand opening of the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music, which will serve the entire OSU campus. With the addition of this state-of-the-art facility which includes access to 28 practice rooms, 35 studios, 3 large rehearsal halls, a recording studio, classroom spaces and more, music students now have all of the resources they need to achieve excellence and prepare for their careers. The facility’s lobby also connects to The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts, where students have the chance to perform and have access to unique experiential learning opportunities alongside some of the world’s top performers.

Who provides hands-on art opportunities for our state and beyond?

Orange is the Answer. At OSU, we not only aim to serve our state, but our nation, and the world. The OSU Doel Reed Center recently partnered with the Taos Integrated School for the Arts (TISA) in order to extend the reach of OSU to communities of Northern Mexico. TISA is a state-funded, public, K-8 charter school that integrates the arts into academic instruction. Teachers focus on hands-on and project-based learning with a lot of creative integration. In the summer and fall, the Doel Reed Center also hosts Leisure Learning courses for OSU alumni and friends. Examples of past courses include a class focusing on the culture of Taos and Northern New Mexico, photography, pottery and more. This past summer, participants participated in a philanthropy project to provide TISA students with art supplies.
