Orange is the Answer.

At Oklahoma State University, a Carnegie R1 Research University, our professors and researchers are making discoveries every day that impact the future of our state and the world.

OSU professor Dr. Liuling Yan, who has been researching wheat genomes for more than 10 years, has discovered and cloned two wheat genes in recent years.

These breakthroughs have the potential to mean higher yield for wheat crops and the ability of wheat researchers to fine-tune crop maturity for specific use: cattle grazing, grain-only or short-season wheat. Discovering these genes means knowing how to find them in wheat. That means producers have obtained the ability to anticipate crop needs and increase the ability of a wheat crop’s genetic traits to improve yield.

With OSU scientists boasting distinct wheat varieties designed to resist drought, cold and disease while increasing wheat yields for farmers across the globe, we are meeting the demand for a vital food commodity for all humanity. Our research fields feed the world.
