Where does the New York Philharmonic take center stage?
Orange is the Answer.
At Oklahoma State University, we are dedicated to excellence in the arts.
The New York Philharmonic and the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts recently announced a three-year residency which will bring the renowned orchestra to Stillwater annually and allow OSU students to learn from and train with the most talented musicians in the world.
The partnership includes performances by the New York Philharmonic for the next three McKnight Center seasons as well as masterclasses with OSU students and a youth education concert for Stillwater Public Schools students.
The OSU Museum of Art recently achieved American Alliance of Museums (AAM) accreditation, the nation’s highest recognition for a U.S. museum. Along with its dedication to excellence and accountability, OSU Museum of Art sets itself apart by challenging the definition of art through innovative installations created by artists and curators from around the globe.
One such installation — “BLOW UP II: Inflatable Contemporary Art” — came to the museum from California’s Bedford Gallery at the Lesher Center for the Arts. The exhibition prompted unique collaborations with local artists and OSU art students, who created one-of-a-kind inflatable sculptures after weeks of specialized, hands-on instruction.
The museum also recently organized a much-anticipated Doel Reed exhibition in partnership with the OSU Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History. An acclaimed regional artist, Reed was also an OSU faculty member and art department head. “Sun Patterns, Dark Canyon: The Paintings and Aquatints of Doel Reed (1894-1985)” brought hundreds of visitors to Downtown Stillwater and is now on loan to Taos Art Museum at Fechin House (New Mexico), further expanding OSU’s mission and impact.
At OSU, we not only aim to serve our state, but also our nation and the world. The OSU Doel Reed Center in Taos recently partnered with the Taos Integrated School for the Arts (TISA) in order to
extend the reach of OSU to communities in northern New Mexico. TISA is a state-funded,
public, K-8 charter school that integrates the arts into academic instruction. Teachers
focus on hands-on and project-based learning with creative integration.
In the summer and fall, the Doel Reed Center also hosts leisure learning courses for OSU alumni and friends. Examples of past courses include a class focusing on the culture of Taos and northern New Mexico, photography, pottery and more. From our world-class partnerships, faculty and facilities to our top-ranked academic programs, OSU provides enriching arts opportunities unlike anything else across the country.
