Next steps for summer/fall entering students:
-
1. Obtain your Form I-20 and complete your I-901 SEVIS Fee Transfer Request
Students living outside of the United States
Once all your documents are processed, please follow these steps to pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee and apply for a F-1 student visa (Form DS-160).
Canadian citizens do not need an F-1 student visa to study in the United States. However, they must have a valid Form I-20 and pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee before entering the country. Upon arrival, they should inform the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer that they are entering the United States in F-1 student status.
Canadian Permanent Residents must obtain an F-1 student visa before entering the United States to study.
