Steps to Apply

1. Review OSU's international admission requirements

   Learn about prerequisites, our test score policy and the holistic review process we use to consider whether students are a good fit for OSU. Please note that some academic colleges may have additional program-specific admission criteria. 

   You may be eligible for assured admission if you meet the following criteria:

   • High school GPA 3.0+ (based on a 4.0 scale) AND

     OSU employs a uniform approach to transform your GPA from your international high school to its U.S. equivalent. This process typically involves examining the grading system employed by your foreign school and comparing it with the commonly used 4.0 scale in the U.S. In calculating grade-point averages, the total number of grade points earned is divided by the total number of hours attempted. The grade of "I," "NP," "P," "S," "U," "W," "R," "SR," "UR," or the mark of "AU" or "N" will not affect the grade-point average. Additionally, some courses are excluded from GPA calculations (however, there are other courses that might also be excluded):

     • Developmental courses
     • Physical education activity (leisure) courses
     • Courses repeated (with an original grade of “D” or “F”) or reprieved/renewed based on State Regents policy

     International freshman and transfer applicants' GPA is recalculated based on the Core Curricular Requirements included in the State Regents policy. OSU relies on credential evaluation guidelines provided by globally recognized organizations such as AACRAO Edge, World Education Services and NAFSA.

   • English language proficiency exam scores

     One of the following:

     • iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 3.5+ 
     • IELTS Academic Score 5.5+ 
     • PTE Academic Score 46+ 
     • iTEP Academic Score 3.5+ 
     • Duolingo English Test Score 95+ 

     OSU offers conditional admission to students who meet all admission requirements except the English language proficiency requirement.

     The English language proficiency requirement may be waived if you have graduated from an accredited high school where English is the primary language of instruction in a country where English is the primary language. This is determined based on information from your application and transcripts.

     English language proficiency requirement will be waived for international students who have or will have attended English-speaking high schools located in the U.S. for two or more years.

2. Apply for admission and scholarships

   We accept either the OSU application or the Common Application. If you are applying to multiple or colleges or universities that accept the Common App, it may be a convenient way for you to submit your application to OSU. Select whichever option is best for you, but only submit one application. Both are accessible using the admissions portal link below. This is also where you can check on the status of your application once you've applied. 

   Your application for admission is also your application for scholarships.

3. Submit required documents

   To complete your application, you will need to submit all of the documents listed below by uploading it to the admissions portal.

   • Copy of the identification page in your passport

     Submit a copy of the identification page in your passport.

   • English proficiency test score 

   • High school transcripts

     Submit your high school transcript(s). If you have earned post-secondary credits/classes, you must submit a college transcript from each institution attended as well. 

     All transcripts must be issued directly by the school in the original language. English translations are also required if the official transcript is not in English.

     Translations must be word-for-word, in the same format as the original, and typed on the school letterhead stationery, or on business stationery signed by a translator attesting to familiarity with the foreign language. Please note that we do not accept credential evaluations from third-party services.

     International transcripts are considered official if they are submitted to our office in ONE of the following formats:

     • The transcript is submitted in an envelope that is sealed and stamped by your school or the Department of Education in your home country. Official transcripts can be mailed directly from your institution or hand-delivered in a sealed envelope prior to enrollment at OSU. See examples of properly sealed envelopes for official transcripts.
     • The transcript is sent to our office electronically at international@okstate.edu from your school or school representative via their official email account or transcript e-service.
     • The transcript is sent to our office electronically at international@okstate.edu from your embassy or home government.

     Scanned or photo copies of transcripts from international institutions are accepted for admission purposes ONLY. In order to avoid delays in enrollment, applicants who are offered admission to OSU must submit official transcripts prior to enrollment at OSU.

     Please note that official transcripts are required for admission purposes and transfer credit evaluation for any coursework completed in the United States.

   • Financial guarantee documentation

     Complete your financial guarantee documentation which includes:

     • Financial guarantee form
     • Bank letter

     Financial guarantee is two parts and students must submit both in order to have a complete application. 

     International students may submit unofficial documents for admission consideration, but students must provide an original copy of all documents prior to enrollment.

4. Pay $90 application fee

   International students must pay a $90 application fee via your application portal before your application can be processed.
