We accept any of the following English language proficiency exams:
- iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 3.5+
- IELTS Academic Score 5.5+
- PTE Academic Score 46+
- iTEP Academic Score 3.5+
- Duolingo English Test Score 95+
The English language proficiency requirement may be waived if your student graduated from an accredited institution in a country where English is the main instructional language. Eligibility for this waiver will be determined based on the information the student provides in the application and transcripts.
Additionally, the requirement may be waived for students who have or will attend an English-speaking high school in the United States for at least two academic years.
-
Are international students eligible for an application fee waiver?
No. International students are not eligible for a waiver. A $90 USD application fee is required before we can evaluate a student's application for admission. Please advise your student to visit their application portal to fulfill this requirement.
-
Do you offer Duolingo fee waivers?
Yes! However, we have a limited number of Duolingo fee waivers. Students are encouraged to complete all necessary application requirements before they can be fully considered for all available opportunities.
-
Can you evaluate my student's transcript prior to applying for admission?
Our office cannot evaluate a prospective student's college transcripts until the student:
- Applies
- Pays the $90 non-refundable application fee
- Submits a signed financial guarantee form along with a bank certification
- Submits the required transcripts
Only then can we review their transcripts to make an admission decision.
-
What is the required process for transcript translations?
All transcripts must be translated into English and meet the following requirements:
- Complete and literal (word-for-word) with no attempts to interpret or evaluate the credential
- Prepared in the same format as the original document
- Typed on business or school letterhead stationery
- Signed by a translator attesting to familiarity with the foreign language
Official translations may be obtained from:
- The institution where the applicant studied
- A translation agency
- The consulate or embassy of the country issuing the document
- An immigrant or refugee association in the United States representing the country issuing the document
- A faculty member of a U.S. high school, college, or university (must include academic department and rank)
-
What scholarship opportunities are available for my student?
International students who submit a completed application for admission are automatically considered for scholarships. Scholarships vary from $7,000 to $15,000 per academic year. University competitive scholarships are also offered through our six academic colleges. Selection may be based on a number of factors, including test scores and GPA, leadership and community service, essays, interviews and/or auditions.
-
Do you accept the CSS Profile?
No. We require a signed Financial Guarantee form and a bank certification.
-
How can my student change their major?
Students who want to change their major before enrolling at OSU can complete the Change of Major Form in their application portal. Students may also email the admissions office with the following information:
- Full name
- Campus-wide ID number
- Previously declared major
- New major
-
Are there virtual tour options available?
Yes. International students can explore campus through our virtual tour platform, which is available in seven different languages. We also host webinars led by international student ambassadors, who walk prospective students through the virtual tour experience while sharing insights about campus life, academics, housing and student experiences — all while answering questions in real time.
-
Does OSU help students prepare for visa interviews?
We understand that applying for a student visa can bring many challenges and uncertainties. To help students feel confident and prepared for upcoming visa interviews, the International Students and Scholars Office (ISS) offers virtual visa interview preparation sessions.
-
When will my student receive their I-20?
All freshmen must submit a $300 enrollment deposit in order to receive their I-20 and register for housing, as well as orientation and enrollment. Students can submit the payment through their application portal.
-
Is housing guaranteed for international students?
Housing is guaranteed for all incoming first-time freshmen. Transfer students are not required to live in OSU housing and therefore not guaranteed an OSU housing assignment.
-
Does OSU provide airport pickup?
Yes. Airport pickup is typically offered for the fall semester and may also be available in the spring, depending on student demand and availability. Transportation is usually arranged from the Stillwater Regional Airport and, in some cases, from Oklahoma City (OKC) at the Will Rogers International Airport. Visit our Travel to Stillwater webpage to learn more.
-
Are there jobs available on campus for international students?
Yes. International students in F-1 status may be eligible for on-campus employment opportunities while enrolled at OSU. Federal regulations generally limit students to working up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester. Students can learn more about employment eligibility, work permits and student employment opportunities through the International Students and Scholars Office (ISS).
-
Who should I contact to get additional information about OSU?
We are happy to answer questions and provide resources for prospective students. Please contact an international admissions counselor or email us at international@okstate.edu.
-
What should I do if my student or I do not receive a response?
We understand that students, counselors and agents may have urgent questions, especially during peak admission and visa processing periods. Our team works hard to respond as quickly as possible, but response times may occasionally be longer during high-volume seasons.
If you or your student have not received a reply within a reasonable timeframe, we encourage you to follow up with an admissions counselor or email international@okstate.edu. If additional assistance is needed, inquiries may be escalated to another member of the admissions support team for further review.
