Career Paths
There is a critical need for nurses in Oklahoma and across the country. BSN prepared nurses can work in acute care facilities as well as community settings such as schools, health departments or home health. BSN graduates are prepared to pursue advanced practice degrees to become nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists and clinical nurse leaders. A few of the opportunities for practice include:

Highlights
Clinical Experiences
Students in this program will have hands-on experience with patients in both rural and urban settings. Six hundred hours of clinical experience will be gained through partnership with medical facilities such as Stillwater Medical Center, OSU Medical Center-Tulsa, Integris and Saint Francis.
Mary K. Chapman Nursing Simulation Laboratory
Complete with state-of-the-art medical equipment including high-fidelity simulation manikins, a newly renovated facility has been in use since early 2025. The lab has been designed to ensure students are prepared to meet the dynamic health care needs of individuals, families and their communities.
Career Readiness
Individualized preparation for successful completion of the NCLEX licensure exam begins in the first semester of nursing courses and is incorporated throughout the length of the program. The Capstone course taken in the final semester of the program focuses on transitioning students into nursing practice and includes a robust and comprehensive review for the NCLEX. Upon completion of the program, students will have met all program/course requirements to sit for the NCLEX exam.
Class of 2025
Required Secondary Admission Application
Prospective students who want to pursue a degree in nursing must complete OSU's undergraduate admissions application and select nursing as their major.
Students will complete 58 hours of prerequisite coursework early in the degree plan, which includes general education and science-focused courses. In the semester prior to completing prerequisite coursework, students will submit a competitive secondary application to continue professional coursework, which includes laboratories, simulations and clinical experiences, toward a nursing degree.
