What is management information systems?

The MIS degree focuses on the business applications of information technology and data analytics. This includes emphasizing necessary skills required in the analysis, development and implementation of various information, communication and data analytics technologies critical in all organizations.

Why management information systems at OSU?

MIS is a practical applied STEM-focused technical major that develops project and team-based skills essential for the professional world. The department is recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defender Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.

Our top-notch faculty and facilities serve the increasing cyber security educational needs via both our undergraduate and graduate level programs. The programs through the MSIS Department often stress the real-world business applications of IT and security.

Student organizations

Students learn practical application skills through participating in the Information Security and Assurance Club, which educates students on evolving information security threats and mitigation techniques, as well as advance marketability for employment beyond academia. The field of Information Assurance is in high demand and is shaping the landscape of IT.

Students can also take part in the Association of Information Technology Professionals. A club dedicated to providing growth and leadership opportunities to students in the Information Technologies program.
