Educational Specialist in Educational Administration
The EdS in Education, option in Educational Administration is ideal for Oklahoma educators who already have a master’s degree and desire to have a greater impact on learning communities by improving the quality of education in educational systems. The specialist degree is considered more advanced than a master’s degree, but generally requires less coursework that the PhD and EdD degree options. Graduates are prepared and equipped to analyze and resolve educational issues within diverse contexts. This degree also meets the course requirement for superintendent certification in Oklahoma.
Curriculum
This 36-hour program facilitates the development of scholar practitioners who are adept at leading complex systems through the development of research and data informed decision-making skills. We utilize Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) standards to guide course development and improvement and is recognized by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Admissions
Applications are accepted once per year, with a March 15 deadline. To apply, complete the following:
- Graduate College application
- Transcripts from all previously attended institutions
- Current resume/vita
- Three letters of recommendation
- Career objectives essay (one page, double spaced)
- Academic or scholarly writing sample
- Interview: Program faculty may request an interview with the applicant.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with admissions for fall, spring or summer semesters.
Cost & Assistance
Currently enrolled students are eligible for scholarships offered through the College of Education and Human Sciences.
