Overview
This program prepares you to understand professions within recreation and leisure management, apply theories to the professions, use relevant research to provide high-quality services and create quality programs for specific populations. You will get up-to-date information about recreation and event planning, sports programs, recreation venues and more.
Successful completion of the certificate program requires 12 credit hours (four courses) of graduate-level coursework in leisure studies. Credit hours are transferable to additional graduate degree programs.

Coursework
Courses are delivered on the OSU Stillwater campus, with many opportunities for peer-to-peer collaboration. Any substitutions or deviations from the list must be approved by the program coordinator prior to enrollment.

Admissions Requirements and Deadlines
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants will be notified of admission status within four to six weeks of submission.
To apply for the program, submit the following:
- A Graduate College application
- Transcripts from all previously attended institutions (undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a minimum 3.0 GPA required; admission with qualifications may be considered)
- Academic vita/resume
- Three letters of recommendation (focused on academic capability, communication skills, desire and potential for success, ability to work independently and relevant experience)
- Writing sample (can be a past class assignment)
- Personal statement (250 words max) addressing desire and potential for success, ability to work independently and relevant experience)
