Overview
In addition to preparing you for central office administration, this program provides the partial fulfillment of requirements for state certification in the preparation of district level leaders (Oklahoma Statutes, 70-6-189(C)). This program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and prepares you to strengthen schools and improve community collaboration.
Successful completion of the certificate program requires 12 credit hours (four courses) of graduate-level coursework in educational leadership. Credit hours are transferable to additional graduate degree programs in school administration.

Coursework
Courses are offered on the OSU-Tulsa and OSU-OKC campuses in hybrid or online formats. Online courses are delivered through Canvas, OSU's online learning platform. We facilitate peer-to-peer collaboration and community building using technology.
Required (six credit hours):
- EDLE 6873: Leading Schools with Data
- EDLE 6633: School Leadership and Community Collaboration
Elective (six credit hours - select two of the following):
- EDLE 6493: School Improvement/Reform Practices
- EDLE 6483: School Leadership, Culture and Ethics
- EDLE 6853: Research Traditions in Educational Leadership
- EDLE 6353: Superintendency (district management)
- EDLE 6453: Special Topics in School Law
- EDLE 6393: The Human Factor in Administering Schools
- EDLE 6363: Special Topics in School Finance Policy
- EDLE 6893: Field Studies Internship II
*Other education courses may be approved by the program coordinator.
Admissions Requirements and Deadlines
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants will be notified of admission status within four to six weeks of submission.
To apply for the program, submit the following:
- Graduate College application
- Transcripts from all previously attended institutions (master's degree from an accredited university with a minimum 3.0 GPA required; admission with qualifications may be considered)
- Two letters of recommendation
- Academic vita/resume
- Career objective statement
