Counter-UAS (CUAS) Center of Excellence

Graphic with "Reach for the sky" words over a drone in the sky

The increasing demand for comprehensive counter-UAS capabilities across military services highlights the need for better coordination in research, development and testing. At the same time, a shortage of engineering graduates with the necessary skills, security clearances and specialized education presents a challenge for advancing this critical field. Currently, each branch of the military pursues counter-UAS initiatives independently, creating a fragmented approach that requires collaboration between industry, academia and government agencies.

The Counter-UAS Center of Excellence (CUAS CoE) has been designated as the lead entity to unify national counter-drone research efforts. Working closely with the Joint Force CUAS University at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla., the center evaluates vendor technology, establishes requirements, and develops solutions to detect, identify and defeat emerging UAS threats. By leveraging resources across Oklahoma and fostering partnerships with industry and federal agencies, the CUAS CoE strengthens national security and ensures the U.S. maintains its leadership in UAS and counter-UAS technology. The Center provides direct access to military customer needs, unparalleled expertise in autonomous systems and emerging threat technologies, and a specialized network dedicated to rapid technology development.
