New Date for Start of Spring Semester

October 6, 2020

As we look ahead to the completion of the fall semester, I want to commend our students, faculty and staff for remaining focused on doing your part to keep our campus community safe. This has been a challenging time but we have worked together diligently to deliver both in-person and online classes successfully.

Our goal is to provide the same modes of academic delivery next semester. Based on consultation with state and local health officials, we have decided to adjust the start date of the spring semester in order to give us the best chance to finish the term in person.

Classes will begin a week later on Tuesday, January 19. We will also not be having spring break in order to avoid another possible surge in COVID cases due to student travel. This approach — which is also being announced today at the University of Oklahoma — will allow us to finish the semester on schedule.

In the weeks and months ahead, we must remain mindful of the responsibility each of us has to our greater campus community to keep everyone well and safe. My highest priority is the health and well-being of our campus community while at the same time preserving our academic mission and providing our students with what they need to secure a quality education.

I appreciate the sacrifices you have made to keep our community safe and look forward to another successful semester at Oklahoma State University.

Go Pokes!
